Money saving beans

I have always had a foolproof method of getting great tasting beans, using a slowcooker and the freezer. Firstly i choose my bean variety, this time it was black beans. I place the beans in a slowcooker with plenty of water, a stock cube and a few bay leaves. The best way to make this stress free and wonderful is to put it on last thing at night and wake up to ready made wonderful pulses. I then drain and let cool. Then its time to portion out and put into ziploc bags to place in the freezer. I do think that home made beans beat a tin of beans for flavour and texture. Make them you will not only save money ( another tip is to buy pulses in the sales or in bulk ) but you will also have beans on hand for chillis, stews, soups or pasta dishes.
